FRIENDLYJORDIES ANNOUNCE WOLLONGONG SHOW – PERFORMING AT UOW UNIBAR, JULY 20
Posted on April 23, 2018
Malcolm Turnbull’s bio begins with his great grandfather in the fledgling colony of Sydney, back then known as ‘Brisbane’. It details Malcolm’s early years, though few records about his 8th week as a foetus are available. Nonetheless, two thirds of the show is devoted to that specific week. The rest focusses on Malcolm’s triumph after triumph adult life. Well may you ask, ‘Is our PM actually Vinny from Entourage?’. Years ago, Jordan physically bumped into Malcolm. MT reeled back, delicately wailing, “MAHahaw”, as though a plague-ridden pleb had sneezed. Since that day, Jordan has been dissecting the origins of MT’s response. Now he believes that fate has inextricably linked him with MT to tiptoe this velvety biographical path together. Malcolm knows you love him…so this show you’ll love.
Jordan Shanks (friendlyjordies) is a satirist comedian, live radio host and podcast creator. He has been described as “irreverent”, “surreal” and “some guy who got a cheap camera from K-Mart”.
He has produced over 250 no-holds-barred videos for his YouTube channel with 250,000 followers. Jordan hopes he will foster some sort of interest in socio-political discourse, maybe even stir positive change, but most people keep asking him to dress up as a high school kid he once knew. Sometimes he complies.
Since 2013 he has spent 4 years in self-imposed solitary confinement reading thousands of articles about the collapse of the planet and then yelling about it online.
In 2016 and 2017 he left the costumes at home and toured his highly acclaimed live motivational comedy show, Chin Up, Stooge across Australia!

STONEFIELD ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIAN TOUR – PLAYING UOW UNIBAR, MAY 26
Posted on April 16, 2018
‘Far From Earth’ is the latest addition to an extensive catalogue that the four Findlay sisters have been officially releasing since 2010, but a catalogue they have been building since the days when they were only as tall as the strange stone formations that surround their hometown in Australia’s rural south-east. For over a decade, Stonefield have seemingly existed within their own stellar nebula; unaffected by fleeting modern musical trends, their sound is a homage to the prog, metal and psych powerhouses of the 70s whilst remaining completely their own.
Stonefield’s latest single ‘Delusion’, and first for Flightless Records, demonstrates a shift from the hardened psych pop of earlier records toward more prog and heavy metal. Heavy waves of operatic synth and tubular bells ring below guitars with mellotron lines that warn you that humans don’t belong in space.

TROPHY EYES ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIAN TOUR – PLAYING UOW UNIBAR, MAY 11
Posted on March 29, 2018
Trophy Eyes have had an epic 12 months since they released their acclaimed new album Chemical Miracle, which debuted at #8 on the ARIA Album Chart and has been lauded for its raw emotion, depth of introspection and courage.
Trophy Eyes backed it up with a chill-inducing set at UNIFY 2017, and much to the dismay of the triple j text line, the boys from Newcastle missed out on a place on the Hottest 100 by a whisker, landing #101 with their heart-wrenching anthem “Chlorine”. This culminated in their biggest Australian headline tour to date, which saw sold out signs on each and every box office around the country. The demand for Trophy Eyes was so strong that half the tour sold out two months in advance.
TIJUANA CARTEL ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE & AUSTRALIAN TOUR – PLAYING UOW UNIBAR, JULY 27
Posted on March 29, 2018
To be released on 19 April, Sophia is the second single from Tijuana Cartel’s special vinyl edition E.P. Ishtar’s Descent. Having recently joined the burgeoning roster of Brisbane’s highly respected agency PS Music Group, the group are poised to embark on one of their most comprehensive national tours in recent memory.
Tijuana Cartel are nationally loved for their east meets west, fat, bass-fuelled electronica. A truly unique act that have been mesmerising their ever-growing audience for well over a decade, they continue to set an exceptionally high standard in both live performance and sound production.
The Sophia tour kicks off on March 28 with two shows at Hotel Brunswick, where they will be recording their upcoming live album; and will continue through till August with a huge closing show at iconic venue The Lansdowne in Sydney. The tour also features several festival dates and a 4-date run in WA.
Sophia features Paul George’s signature soul-stirring guitar work, overlaying a stomping four-to-the-floor rhythm with a deep, driving quality. In some ways, it’s a strong throwback to the sound that established Tijuana Cartel as a nationally acclaimed electronic act. Their signature marriage of world flavours and squelchy electronica has since formed a movement all of its own, and this track encapsulates the sound of that movement precisely.
‘This song highlights our strength and individuality as Tijuana Cartel’, says George. ‘It has a strong four to the floor beat, trippy electronic analogue synths, Cuban style percussion, trumpet riffs and of course the sound of Flamenco guitar.’
Described by George as ‘trance lost in a new world’, Sophia masterfully amalgamates the progressive sonic soundscapes that Tijuana have honed to perfection, with the world music instrumentation that define their enduring sound.
A highly anticipated digitally animated film clip for Sophia is currently being cooked up by Carey O’Sullivan in the Cartel’s Gold Coast studio (known as The Lab). If his previous effort on Ishtar is anything to go by, the follow up will be a psychedelic, mind-bending, multi-sensory, fractal indulgence. He has spent several months coding the scripts to bring this next masterpiece to life and it will be unveiled in the very near future.
Sophia is available from major online retailers. The second track to come from their limited-edition vinyl release.
