The Pinheads Announce Debut Album & Release New Single, Film Clip & Tour Dates – Playing UOW Unibar, July 8
Posted on April 12, 2017
The Pinheads are a seven-piece rock n roll outfit who can be found ten-pin bowling and eating slimy pizza in the suburbs of the Illawarra.
In their short lifetime, the band become notorious for producing some fuzzy, raucous rock ‘n roll and a wild screaming live show to boot. Well on the way to becoming seasoned road hogs, the Pinheads have toured and shared the stage with King Gizzard, Fat White Family, Tumbleweed, Tomorrow’s Tulips, Hockey Dad, Drunk Mums and Skegss.
Following up from their debut EP ‘I Wanna Be A Girl’, The Pinheads are set to release their self titled debut LP. The album was written in parts, beginning at “el rancho relaxo” deep in the hinterlands of Northern NSW. The second half of the album was written at the Pinshed Sound Laboratory – a makeshift studio nestled in the middle of their bushland home on the South Coast. The album was recorded in the Pinshed and engineered by Merlin Magneto, Mixed by Owen Penglis (Royal Headache, The Grates, Straight Arrows) and mastered by Crystal Studios.
The Pinheads aren’t a revivalist band, shock rock, nor any other thing an outsider could adequately dissect; Just a bunch of mostly human reprobates banded together to make music. There really is no other way to understand the band until you make your way along to a sweaty show, but you’d best be quick, they’ll either sell out or be shut down. The Pinheads will scare you, swoon you, and make you consider the existence of interterrestrial beings. You won’t know whether to run, dance or scream. But either way their spell will have you fall in love and howling for more.
Debut Album out May 12th via Farmer & The Owl/Inertia.

The Grenadiers Release New Single & Tour Dates – Playing Rad Bar, May 13
Posted on April 3, 2017
Everybody knows that GRENADIERS are the real deal. The Adelaide rock warriors have returned, with acerbic new single ‘Suburban Life’ and a high volume east coast tour.
‘Suburban Life’ is a driving justification of why Australian rock music is firmly back on the up and up. Drawn from some new recordings you’ll hear more of soon, everything about it is BIG. Driving guitars, relentless pace, that shout-along refrain. Frontman Jesse Coulter’s whiskey and smokes growl is more incisive than ever. Suburban Life rolls on, tongue firmly in cheek…
For over seven years, Grenadiers punk/rock straddling fury has seen them rise above the tangle of middle-of-the-road domestic rock. The trio emerged victorious to claim triple j feature album status for their acclaimed 2nd LP ‘Summer’ last year, touring nationally with punk legends Millencolin and Shihad and decamping to the UK to dominate at The Great Escape. Happy Mag listed Jesse in their ’20 Aussie Singers You Need in Your Life’ piece. Rad.
Individually, Jesse, Phil and Jimmy are rooted deep within the history and mythology of rock, punk and hardcore. This common fanatical adoration is the foundation-stone of their relationship. Combined, they become a fearsome, relentless beast that sounds like its feasted on the souls of Queens of the Stone Age, The Bronx and Bad Religion, at midnight in an abandoned desert truck stop. With these awesome powers they write songs that dissect the absurdity of the everyday. And that is refreshing as hell.
Always eager to abandon the well-beaten touring path, Grenadiers have plied their rock wares in such unconventional locations as Griffith, Dunsborough and Arnhem Land. They’re as comfortable in a far-flung RSL as in a dive bar or on a festival stage. See for yourselves what they’ve learned about delivering an all ruckus, no rubbish rock show when they take ‘Suburban Life’ down the east coast throughout May.
Come, witness the mighty Grenadiers worship expertly at the alter of rock.

Sydney four-piece FLOWERTRUCK are a powerhouse of emotions. Drawing influences from the likes of Talking Heads, The Smiths and The Go-Betweens, their modest melodies and honest songwriting is instantly catchy and moving. From humble beginnings with their debut single Candided, Charles Rushforth and Hamish Dobinson quickly expanded the drum machine centered two-piece into a full four piece synth-pop outfit, contracting mutual friends Will Blackburn on the drums and Sarah Sykes on synth duties.
The gem of FLOWERTRUCK lies in their live performances. Their sound has been described as garage pop-rock – proof that the everyday chaos of the Sydney s Inner West sweats from their pores. Recently nominated as Best Live Act for FBi SMAC Awards, FLOWERTRUCK have toured up and down the Australian coast and built a resounding fan base outside their inner-western-Sydney neighborhood, expanding their musical chemistry into a brilliantly solid 5-track EP.s
Nocturnal Tapes represent that feeling of space travel, somewhere between zero gravity and before leaving the atmosphere.
Their music pushes and pulls like very few other live electronic acts can do. And for a duo that has only been working together for under 2 years, this relationship is only going to flourish and grow stronger.
Sounding like the love child of Darkside, Daft Punk, and Jimi Hendrix, with solid 4/4 beats, escalating arpeggio and vocals awash with reverb and beautiful falsetto.
Brightness is the moniker of Alex Knight, an indie-pop producer and window cleaner hailing from Lake Macquarie in New South Wales. He owns a newly registered 2001 Commodore Lumina with a substantial dent in the driver side fender – so you know, he’s probably a legend.
Recorded and mixed by Knight and Alex Crosby, ‘Oblivion’ was released last month via Mirror Music Group, and who has now been sign to consistent taste makers, I Oh You. It’s a blissful, meandering tune with guitar lines that you’ll be humming for days to come.
